The Island of Favignana is the main island of the Aegean archipelago. It is located a few kilometres off the west coast of Sicily. Isola Di Favignana is the first genuine London Dry Gin made with naturally farmed and foraged wild botanicals from Favignana Island. To create the Gin, we have selected 12 botanicals with Doctor Umberto Rizza, a 3rd Generation Botanist native to Favignana. The ingredients have been selected for their deep aromatic complexity, creating a truly unique Gin that reflects both people and place. We are dedicated to supporting artists, farmers and creatives from Favignana Island, our label was designed by local artist Gaspare Bertolini. The glass for our bottles was created by one of the best italian glassmakers to reflect the furrows of the land that we cultivate by hand.
Each ingredient is selected by Doctor Rizza, a Naturopath, who chooses the botanicals to fit with juniper, a dominant herb in gin. Italian juniper berries, coriander seeds, and angelica roots are the base for a London Dry Gin, we add inlemon peels, olive leaves, myrtle leaves alongside local Favignana botanicals that are indigenous to this island: Roman chamomile, Helichrysum, sweet mint, rosemary, verbena and wormwood.
The notes of lemon and mint give freshness to the pallet, while the sweetness of the chamomile balance the bitterness offered by juniper and absinthe. Helichrysum and myrtle add structure to the recipe. Together the ingredients offer an authentic artisan flavour experience, creamy and well balanced; a rare expression of Favignana soil and its untouched ecosystem.
